LIBRARY
The Sowards Memorial Library, SML, 30ftx60ft doublestorey
opened 1992. Presently the top level serves for reading and
study: circulation, reference and reserve. The ground level
serves for reading and study: reference and periodicals.
A major objective of the library is to acquire
comprehensively the basic works of both western and eastern
religious traditions. Some of the books are assigned to
students for book report by the teachers concerned. |

A sum of K 1,200,000 for the present academic year is
allotted to the library in the college budget. Previously,
most of the books came from the Sowards and friends in
States. The library is operated by one librarian and an
assistant. Also a few work students help the library work.
The Dewey Decimal Classification system is used.
The classified catalogue cards are filed as follows:
subject, title, author, shelflist.
At the beginning of the academic year, the new class is
orientated for the use of the library. Rules and regulations
of the library are noticed. The library serves as an
information center for acquiring theological and biblical
knowledge and is open to all churches, students and staff of
the seminary, school and related organizational bodies.
Encyclopedia, Dictionary, Bible commentary, Atlas, Handbook,
Year Book, and others are available to a certain extent.
Reserve books are set aside for use in connection with
current courses. Those are loaned overnight or for the
weekend. Books for circulation may be borrowed for home use
for a period of two weeks. A chart showing the location of
books on different subjects and their numbers is displayed
for consultation.
The collection of national language literature is in
process. The library receives reports, news letters,
periodicals and bulletins from related bodies both inland
and overseas, occasionally.

The Library, SML, is furnished with some 5ft x 4ft book
shelves for 45 in number,
3ft x 5ft table 35nos, single chair 145nos and other
essential facilities, accommodating 150 readers at one time.
